What we collect
Data stored on your device
Thread stores gameplay progress, streak history, settings, and reminder choices on your device so the app can open quickly and work offline.
Private iCloud sync
If iCloud sync is active in the current version of the app, your settings, puzzle history, and in-progress daily game may be synced through your private iCloud account using CloudKit. This data is tied to your Apple account by Apple, not by an in-app Thread account.
Anonymous usage analytics
If analytics is enabled in the app, we may receive privacy-light event data such as when the app opens, whether a tutorial was completed, when a daily puzzle is started or finished, clue counts, solve durations, reminder prompt outcomes, share taps, app version, and device class such as iPhone or iPad.
This event stream is session-scoped and is not intended to create a named or personal profile of you.
Anonymous daily result aggregates
If anonymous ranking or aggregate sharing is enabled in the app, we may receive a privacy-light daily result containing the puzzle ID, date, score or miss result, app version, platform, and an anonymous installation identifier used only to avoid duplicate counts for the same puzzle.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, Thread stores your reminder preference and may schedule local reminders on your device. Local reminders do not require a remote push service.
